I was first introduced to a halal Michelin star restaurant when my Muslim friend’s parents invited me to the Amaya restaurant in London. I was blown away by the quality of the food and service, and had no idea that halal restaurants that had any Michelin affiliation existed before this point.

In fact, nowadays there are just about a large number of restaurants worldwide that are certified with Michelin stars (or Bib Gourmand) that serve halal food. We run down the best ones we've tried over the last few years.

Marcus

Marcus in Knightsbridge is a 2 star Michelin restaurant that serves both halal and non-halal food. The chicken needs to be ordered in advance to ensure it's halal, so you'll need to give at least 48 hours notice. The lamb is halal and they are able to tell you from where it was sourced, so that's a bonus.

The food served at this establishment is very high end British food, so you won't be able to order any spicy dishes if that's your thing 🙂

Pollen Street Social

Pollen Street Social isn't exactly a halal run establishment, but they do offer an excellent (and very healthy) vegetarian and vegan menu. So while not strictly halal, it's a great place to get away from the meat.

They also offer some of the best seafood dishes in London, meaning more options for fish lovers.

Jamavar

Jamavar, located in central London, is a Michelen Guide restaurant serving very good Indian food at a reasonable price. The restaurant is designed like a Maharajah's palace and has two floors.

They do serve alcohol in the premises, just so you're aware. Not all the meat is halal so ask the waiter which meat item is available and halal. They also have a separate dessert menu which is completely halal.

Kai Mayfair

Kay Mayfair is a one Michelin star Chinese fusion restaurant that serves some halal food. At time of writing, the chicken and lamb they serve is halal. It has a glitzy layout and isn’t your average Chinese restaurant. Its menu is a mix of Nanyang style Chinese food with some Western influenced dishes, which makes it quite unique in comparison to other Chinese restaurants of such high calibre.

Benares

Benares in London is a one Michelin star restaurant and the full menu is halal woo hoo! I got invited to the restaurant with a family friend to try their food and it was such a great experience. The restaurant serves modern British influenced Indian food, and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming.

Sure you can go for very spicy Indian food, but they also have things like scallops and crab croquettes on the menu.
